1. Acceptance of These Terms

“JRA”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Jury Research Associates of California, formed in California and doing business as Jury Research Associates.

These terms apply when you use juryresearchassociates.com, join our participant panel, complete our surveys, or take part in a focus group or other research session we run. By doing any of those things you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the services.

2. What JRA Provides

• This website, including information about our focus groups and how participation works.
• A participant panel: a standing pool of people we match against upcoming paid focus groups and invite by email.
• Focus group surveys used to determine eligibility and select participants for specific sessions.
• Paid research sessions — focus groups and similar research, run remotely or in person.

We develop these services continuously. Features may be added, changed, or withdrawn, and published material may be revised or removed.

3. Eligibility and Panel Membership

Our panel and focus groups are open to US residents 18 years or older who can speak, read, and write English fluently. Remote sessions additionally require a computer with a microphone and camera and a stable internet connection.

Joining the panel does not guarantee that you will be invited to or selected for any focus group. Invitations depend on the needs of each research project. You are free to decline any invitation, and you can leave the panel at any time by contacting us. We may remove panel members who breach these terms or provide false information.

4. Honest Responses

Participant selection depends on your survey answers. You agree to answer our surveys and screening questions truthfully and completely, and to provide identity documents that are genuine and your own. Misrepresenting who you are or your background is grounds for removal from the panel and disqualification from sessions, including forfeiting compensation for a session obtained through false answers.

5. Session Confidentiality and Conduct

Focus groups relate to real legal matters. Unless we tell you otherwise in writing, you agree to:

• keep confidential everything you see, hear, or discuss in a session — including case details, materials, and the opinions of other participants;
• not record, photograph, screenshot, or transmit any part of a session;
• participate respectfully, from a private, distraction-free setting for remote sessions.

When using the website, please do not:

• break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or help someone else do either;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or data;
• probe, scan, or disrupt the services, or interfere with their normal operation;
• scrape or bulk-download material except as ordinary search engine indexing;
• submit malicious code, or content that is unlawful, harassing, or deceptive.

6. Compensation

Each focus group states its compensation and session length up front. Compensation is paid after you complete the full session, using the payment method we arrange with you (such as Venmo, PayPal, or check). Partial attendance, disruptive conduct, or breach of these terms can disqualify a session from payment.

You participate as an independent research participant. Participation is not employment, and compensation is not wages; you are responsible for any taxes that apply to payments you receive.

7. Not Legal Advice

JRA is a research company, not a law firm. Nothing on this website and nothing that happens in a focus group is legal advice, and neither creates an attorney-client relationship between you and JRA or between you and the legal teams whose cases our research supports.

8. Our Content

The services and the material in them — including text, artwork, and the Jury Research Associates name and logo — belong to JRA or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may quote or link to our published pages with attribution. Anything beyond that, contact us first.

9. What You Submit

You keep ownership of the information you submit. You give us permission to store and process it to operate the services — matching, selection, running sessions, research analysis, and support — as described in our Privacy Policy. Please do not submit anything you are not entitled to share, including another person’s confidential information.

10. For Legal Professionals

Research engagements for attorneys and legal teams are arranged separately and governed by the agreement signed for them. Where that agreement and these terms disagree, that agreement takes precedence for the work it covers. Nothing on this website is an offer or a binding quote; descriptions of our approach and outcomes are illustrative.

11. Availability

We aim to keep the website available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, updates, and events outside our control can interrupt it, and we may change or discontinue parts of the services. Scheduled focus groups may be rescheduled or cancelled; where that happens we will tell invited participants as early as we can.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The services and their content are provided on an “as is” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, JRA is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of the services. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to panel members. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and continuing to use the services after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the services, are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.

If something goes wrong, please raise it with us first at info@juryresearchca.com — most problems can be resolved quickly that way. Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you and Jury Research Associates of California agree it will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and both of us consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Where a signed research engagement covers the work in question, that agreement’s own governing law and dispute provisions apply to it instead, as set out in Section 10.
